Army

I am a proud Army veteran after 5 years of service. I enlisted in late 2002 and was shipped off to complete my basic training on 19 Feburary 2003 at Fort Benning, GA. From there I went to AIT at Fort Gordon, GA where I trained to be a 31R (which is now referred to as a 25Q), Multi-Channel Systems Operator Maintainer.

My first duty station was Camp Red Cloud, in Uijongbu South Korea, Headquarters for the 2nd Infantry Division. I was assigned to 1st Platoon, Delta Company, 122 Signal Battalion. This unit was later disbanded and the Special Troops Battalion (STB) was formed. I was then assigned to Node Center 44, Network Extension Detachment, Bravo Company, STB. I spent 3.5 years in Korea starting as an E-1 Private and leave as an E-5 Sergeant.

My second and last duty station was Fort Campbell, KY. Home of the 101 Airborne Division. I was assigned to HQ Platoon, Charlie Company, 563 Aviation Support Battalion, which was part of the 159th Combat Aviation Brigade. In a company of 30 I was one of 5 individuals that fell victim to poor leadership. (4 previous years without incident, as well as becoming an NCO, to loose it all in a few short months here.) I had such a bad experience in my one year living there I will do everything in my power to never return anywhere close to that state again for the rest of my life.

The issues that occurred at Fort Campbell were so unorthodox that most of the events were reported in the Army Times and Boston Globe. I am currently still going through the legal proceedings trying to get my record corrected, compensation, and those truly responsible reprimanded.

With the exception of Fort Campbell I was very happy, and am still proud that I served my country. By serving I have adopted a whole new set of hobbies that I would of found difficult before serving.

See all the challenge coins and other awards I earned while I was in the Army.
