BlackBerry debuts its own Social Network, are they trying to run themselves in the ground on purpose?

Back in April Blackberry announced the use of their new App store called App World.  With the success of the app store in iTunes it made perfect sense for Blackberry to follow suit.

From day one, I personally would have to say this little app store they created, Sucks.  They finally fixed the search to include the name of the app, before it was only returning results from the descriptions.  A search for the Facebook app would return everything but the official app, which was one of the first featured app’s in the store.  Then not all vendors submit there app so you still have to use google to find an app that will do what you want.  Specifically TwitterBerry the best app I have found for twitter which nearly everyone with a blackberry uses, is nowhere to be found in App World.

Instead its more of a place for lesser known apps or overpriced apps that the average person wouldn’t buy.  On occasion it does surprise me and gives me a new app that I wouldn’t have found otherwise, but its still no comparison to the iTunes app store.

Now Blackberry seems to want to go for round two?  Tomorrow they are debuting MyBlackberry.  A social network for Blackberry users.  As if there wasn’t enough social networks out there.  This one is exclusive to Blackberry owners, and will hide information that is incompatible with your blackberry.  That sounds great for an app store, but why do I want to connect and be social about my phone?  What if I get a new phone?

Do they put the crack in the coffee pot or is it mixed with the sugar that goes on the donuts in the office?  How about work on building a better phone?  Give Apple a run for their money?  I mean seriously…, do they think people are going to use this service?

That said, my phone contract expires October 28th in which I will be getting the new iPhone for both me and the Mrs.  Sorry Blackberry, but you’re just not keeping up to speed!
