Hospital room cache

Geocaching is a fairly new sport that some people still are unaware of. So when my brother injured himself and was hospitalized the biggest question we are hearing is…, “What is a Geocache?”.

We have created a “Muggle Card”, printed folding cards found on Geocaching-u.com, and created a brochure that was a little more detailed. The majority of people give us a smile and tell us it sounds fun with a turned eye towards my brothers foot and leave.

It doesn’t take a genius to know that they are thinking we are involved in something dangerous. So we took it a step further, and hid a cache in the hospital room.

Anniversary Elevator Mishap

My parents get enough stress as it is. The recent events with my brother doesn’t help matters at all. Since my father’s heart attack several years ago he has been more athletic and tries to do what he can to stay healthy so that he can handle the stress. My brother is on the seventh floor of the hospital and he will take the stairs instead of the elevator for this reason.

Today is my parents anniversary. So my brother nudged them out a little early and they didn’t complain so that they could go and spend some time together on there anniversary. At the elevator my father made a deal with my step-mother. They were going to have a race. She takes the elevator and he takes the stairs.

Worse day caching, ever

I think I am jinxed, cursed, or something that actually prevents me from having a normal day. I have accepted the fact that I don’t have a normal life, but why can’t I have a day or two once in a while? Today has officially won the title of “Worse day caching, ever”. I would say that it will be able to keep that title until the end of time, except that this is me we are talking about.

A long day of hiking, ended by carrying my brother to a clearing up some rocks while talking to 911 on my bluetooth earpiece explaining where I am cause Latitude/Longitude, with 5 points past the decimal, aren’t good enough for him.

My first cache

I finally published my first cache today. I picked a spot extremely close to home so that I can learn a little bit from it and at the same time walk to it and fix it when needed.

The cache once Published will be at GC1B8B6. (N 43° 00.837 W 076° 08.019) I am looking at buying some film canisters online but they average around $0.50 a piece plus shipping, or I can buy a bulk amount for less than $0.11 each, but I seriously mean bulk…, like 600 canisters. Don’t know if I will ever use that many.

I will think about it and see how well this one cache goes then I will decide.

My best day caching yet. Found 8 out of 8 cache’s today. Learned a little about Syracuse too today. An upside down traffic light and a bar with a 2 foot tall door for the leprechaun’s in the Irish section of town.

Now I get have to make plans for going back to actually go inside the bar. Short post cause I am beat…!
