Today was the first time I have ever really smoked anyone. I have told others to drop or what-not but mainly joking around playing with power that kind of thing. But today she deserved all of it. She is an E-3 and I am an E-4, I can see the difference. She can’t, I needed someone to ground guide my truck back over to where its normally parked and she walked it over there but left. When I came over to get someone else (which I made it clear in a rude way that she just left and wasn’t suppose too) she got all upset and started yelling at me. I told her enough, she continued…, so I had enough and told her to drop. She argued that too. Said I had to get down with her cause I am “just a specialist”. I yelled to my section SGT and asked him if I had to do anything else if I told her to drop. He replied with a straight answer…, “No”. She got all pissy but got down…, I left her there and went got my truck and came back…, probably a good 5 minutes. My section SGT came over while I was parking the truck and gave me some pointers on how to deal with her once she got up, like saying “don’t yell”, and “tell her your going to talk to her as professionals before you start”.
I tried this new approach, had someone else remind me that she was there. Collected myself and headed over to her and told her to get up and come here. I used my SGT’s pointers, and she still had an attitude. Sooooo, she got back down. 
I gave her another 2 minutes…, approached her again, except this time I didn’t tell her to get up…, I knelt down to her and started talking. Explained that I know I make mistakes but when I tell her to do something she needs to do it and come back later and inform me of my mistakes, not have a full scaled argument right then and there. She was crying and didn’t say a word just nodded her head. Told her to get up, and that completely changed her mood for the rest of the day. No more sarcastic remarks, no spurts of rage, nothing…, she behaved like an adult and everyone got on with their day.
I got real nervous and tense during and after I was done with her. Had to go smoke a cigarette and take a break to calm down…, mainly so no one saw I was a little tense. After a cigarette it was like I never did anything, but once I noticed how much I had modified her mood and that it lasted the rest of the day I kinda feel good about myself now. Even called my wife and told her I did it cause I was that excited that I did it and the results. Maybe I should be more like this then I won’t have to worry about shit not getting done and less work for me in the long run as well. Maybe I will try to get my SGT now.., who knows…, this just turned my day into a much better one.
