I am not much of a book reader, but I do read the news regularly. A lot of hype has been talked about for the new Harry Potter book. The new book is the sixth in the seven book series. Each book have been released on Harry’s birthday July 16th every odd numbered year. The years where a book is not released on the same day the paperback version is released and now since they have been making movies of the series the movie is released in theater’s.Just reading an article on how it has already become a bestseller and is still not released I accidentally stumbled into it in the PX…, on July 1st, which also being payday I didn’t have a problem picking it up. I used my credit card to pay for the book. Apparently the computers in the PX sent a message to Dallas saying that the book was sold and sent up a huge red flag which got a lot of people in the PX in trouble. Because I used my credit card they were able to trace it too me.I left the motorpool shortly today and while I was gone a “Loss Prevention” guy from AAFES visited and talked with my NCO’s, then flashed a badge and asked lots of questions about me. They didn’t deliberate into details why they wanted me so it made me kinda nervous. After they visited with my NCO’s they called me and explained in more detail. They gave me a speech on how they go out of their way to give books like this to military personal so that they can have them at the same times and are not missing out on anything because they are deployed to another country.Apparently Korean nationals don’t seem to care too much about putting items out on the shelf early. They want me to return the book so they can hold onto it until the 16th, in which the will re-sell it back to me for free. They also offered me a $25 gift card for the PX. They didn’t seem too worried that I told them it may be a couple days before I can return it, as long as I can get it back to them before the 16th. I am going to try to hold off doing so until as late as possible.Until then I am wondering if I can finish reading it or get a couple pictures and paste them onto my website. Someone mentioned I should make a PDF file of the book and put it on the website bringing in more traffic. But seeing I have never done that before and can see how much trouble this book getting out is, I am thinking that is unlikely to happen. None-the-less I am amused.
