E-Mail from Harry Potter’s Lawyer’s

I received this e-mail today, which may explain some of the changes around here, and why some pictures have been removed.

We are the attorneys for J.K. Rowling and Scholastic Inc., the author and publisher of the Harry Potter books. It has come to our attention that copyrighted images from our clients’ book entitled Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince are being posted on your website. Specifically, we refer to the posting at http://blog.razornylon.com/?odules/wordpress/index.php?p=109 which includes images of the cover of, and pages from, the book.The book is not to be made available to the public until July 16, 2005, and these postings constitute a violation of our clients’ copyright and other rights as well as an injunction that has been obtained in the United Kingdom barring pre-publication disclosure of these materials. In addition, it appears that the book has been obtained illegally by the individual responsible for these postings. This blatant violation of our client’s rights may lead to serious liability for copyright infringement and other wrongs.We hereby demand that you take all possible steps to remove all of these materials from your website, including without limitation the postings listed above and that you keep the contents of these postings in strict confidence. Furthermore, we demand that you take all possible steps to determine the identity of the person or person who posted these materials and inform us of same. Moreover, it is extremely important that you contact us immediately via email (erosenthal@fkks.com ) or telephone (212 826-5524) to confirm that these actions have been taken or if you have any questions.This email does not constitute an exhaustive statement of our clients’ rights or remedies, all of which are expressly reserved.
