27 Feb 2010 Internet Bridge Troll
 |  Category: WebSite  | Leave a Comment

Due to my recent encounter with a troll on my blog I thought this was appropriate to post here. Fortunately since I blocked his IP and all proxy addresses I haven’t heard from him. If only there was a way to rid the rest of the internet of people like him.

26 Feb 2010 From Dating, to Engaged, to Married, to Divorced and Engaged Again
 |  Category: Divorce  | One Comment

Someone recently asked me what the situation is between me and my wife.  Are we divorced, are we just separated, what is the deal?

Legally we are divorced.  However on the day we signed the divorce papers we both went home together and treated it as a normal loving day in our marriage.  The mood was a little dim, but we still stayed together.

Why get divorced then?  Well when we got married I was living in the barracks in Korea and one 19 year old soldier brought a Korean girl who was 17 into the barracks.  Not a huge age range, and to him he didn’t think of it as an issue.  However the wrong person found out and she was a minor so the first sergeant of my company banned any and all civilians from the barracks.

Shortly after that we went into a month long training exercise where everyone wore MOPP 4 (chemical warfare protection suits) 24/7 except in the barracks.  So if I wanted to see my wife fiance I had to get dressed up into a full MOPP suit, filled with charcoal that turned everything black, and then meet her somewhere off post.  The suit was very warm, and this was also in the dead of summer in Korea which can get into the high 90’s.

Tired and stressed from the new rule already I gave in and found a cheap furnished apartment off post for about $700 a month.  Then bought a bicycle and a backpack I was able to peddle my way to the apartment, change clothes, and enjoy my weekends with my fiance whom I had been dating for about 2 years, and engaged to for about 6 months at this point.

I still lived in the barracks, but for the most part I spent all my time here.  Soldiers in Korea also had a curfew to be on post by midnight ever night, this gave me a way to violate that curfew and stay off post all night without worry of getting caught.  Had anyone in my chain of command figured out that I was sneaking off post and changing out of my MOPP 4 attire, violating curfew on the weekends, and/or renting an apartment I probably would have gotten into some serious trouble.  At the time it was the only way I could see her, and she was worth the risk… still is.

About three months later, we got married. more…

23 Feb 2010 It’s my blog and I’ll cry if I want too!

This is a blog, short for web log.  Originally designed to be a Journal or online Diary, but used for just about anything your little heart desires.

My little heart likes to use this site for a cheesy diary.  A place where I can intermingle with my feminine side and open up to whomever is as pathetic as me and willing to read my ramblings.  Which basically means I don’t usually expect anyone to read this….. in most cases I should pray that no one reads this.

With that in mind, this is where I go to whine, cry, bitch, and moan.  So telling me on every single post I write, that I do nothing but cry and whine is kind of redundant.  My reasons for writing such a blog are a mystery even to me.  But I do enjoy it, it lets me vent, and I’m really not looking for anyone’s approval.  Occasionally I do use it for something else, and possible get some feedback from people, but that’s mainly because this medium allows me to do that and it already exists.

I also like being a tattle tale.  Not because I like being a dick, but because people learn that about me very quickly and generally get smart around me and don’t do anything that would get them in trouble.  Leaving me to live a life where I don’t have to deal with stupid bullshit.  Yes I will call the police if you break the law.  If I break the law, then by all means you are more than welcome to call me out and take me to jail.  I have the utmost respect for cops, if they bust me for speeding or parking in a no parking zone, then yes I will be rather upset by this.  I might complain, but at the same time I will bend over and take it up the ass because I know its coming. Cops are human just like me and you, and prone to mistakes.  So saying that I like or dislike cops is about as generic as saying I hate women, yet everytime you meet a women they are in the ladies room taking a dump.

At the same time, a bad day with the wife will have most men swearing about women in general.  Its not an honest opinion, or meant to be accurate in the least.  Its just that as humans we generalize.  This same methodology is also how racism exists.  Personally I don’t have problems with any one race, but I do have issues with people that wear baggy clothes that scream “I dress like this so I can hide a gun”.  Some people put an entire race into this category based on their own personal experience.  Racism isn’t the problem, its we as people generalizing everything that is the problem.  A bad day with a cop and as human as I can be, you might catch me generalizing about cops.

I have never got the whole tattle tale thing anyway, then telling me I have no respect for cops.  Aren’t cops just paid tattlers?  If I call the police to get you to stop wouldn’t that be the same as if a cop deliberately saw you?  Granted there are laws that are just retarded and most of us just ignore them anyway.  There are even large collections and whole sites like idiotlaws.com which are dedicated at sharing these worthless laws.  However if I come across a law that benefits me in any way shape or form why shouldn’t I take advantage of it?

If it is against the rules to smoke on campus, and I find it uncomfortable to be around the smoke, I will play that card.  As an ex-smoker I know what its like when someone plays that card.  Its annoying and uncomfortable to not be able to smoke.  At the same time I realize that the law is against me and drag my head and again take it up the ass by putting the cigarette out.  It’s just how the system works.

That is the only thing logical that I can make out of your bad english to rebutal.  The whole Army thing and the wife thing, you’re just wrong on multiple levels.  Yes there were issues with both of those areas but they have been resolved.

I have an honorable discharge from the Army and there is still an ongoing investigation unrelated to my discharge status, and non-disciplinary on my part that prevents me from disclosing any detailed information.  Me and the wife are still together, and planning on moving back to Korea after I finish my degree.  That blog post is long overdue, but its on my to-do list.

Regardless, I am saying this to just you and all future trolls.  Give me your first name, lie, I don’t care.  Its annoying to guess if you’re the same person or a second troll.  So far is just the one guy, whose bad grammar and inability to proof read gives him away.  But as a formality, name yourself. I guess I will call you Tuscon as your IP (97.115.238.179) says that’s where you are from… well it did before I blocked it. :)

Anyway, I am now installing a script that blocks all proxy servers.  So no more anonymous comments randomly showing up.  Its just a blog, so as long as I can visit it, I’m happy.  And anything that you post will get posted into a moderation que in which I will have to approve.  I don’t get many comments and I don’t care.  I’ve been allowing anyone to post anything, now I won’t give you the satisfaction anymore.  I just delete and ignore from now on.

So to test my script and see if it actually worked, please, please, please post something.

Everyone else, have a nice day.  I will try to whine out some more posts later.  For now though this is the last I will be talking about my personal troll.

23 Feb 2010 I hate my school…
 |  Category: College  |  Tags: ,  | 2 Comments

I made a joke on twitter this morning about not wanting to go to school today.   Turns out I ended up unintentionally cutting anyway.

I did manage to go to one class late, but left early before the prof could even take roll.  It was a Photoshop 112 class and is basically just one long lab with no lecture.  The women next to me was an elderly woman and didn’t understand how to do some of the basic functions in Photoshop.  Functions that she should have learned in 110 or 111, but this school doesn’t require prerequisites.  She kept asking me over and over things that most people picked up on day one.  I wasn’t getting my own work done, so I packed up and left.

A quick glance through the classes offered at DVC and I notice that not a single ARTDM (Digital Media) class has a prerequisite.  There are 3 levels of Photoshop, but you can take whichever one you want. For my degree I have to take all 3 to0.

I guess this is the price I pay for wanting to save money for going to a small city college.  Except I am seriously starting to think about dropping out and starting over at a completely different school, even if nothing is transferable.  Not just because of the prerequisite problem, but because I feel like I am not even going to a real school.

With the rain today all the smokers are clinging to the side of the buildings to seek cover from the rain.  This brings the smoke inside the buildings which plays havoc with my nerves and giving me cravings to smoke one myself.  Walked along the humanities building and counted 7 smokers today, which was in between classes

List of issues:

  1. Smoke-free campus, but people smoke everywhere
  2. WiFi doesn’t work, making it hard to use my laptop to study
  3. People who aren’t enrolled selling drugs in the quad
  4. Campus police only enforce parking tickets and gossip in the quad (Seen them take someone to the hospital for setting a newsstand and himself on fire but not press charges.  Seen them confiscate alcohol from a group of 40-50 year old adults who weren’t enrolled and didn’t even escort them off the campus.)
  5. At night you can visit the overflow lot and count the number of vehicles rocking
  6. Campus police drive golf carts like real police in pursuit of a convicted criminal

Issues are one thing, letting them slide and completely ignoring them is another.  That is what pisses me off.

With a messed up campus like this its no surprise that they had the whole grade change for sex scandal in the administration office.  What does surprise me that with they way things are currently run that no one has brought a gun to school yet and turned DVC into the next Columbine or Virginia Tech.  If it does happen I am willing to bet that the administration will contest to the press that they never saw it coming.  I just hope that I transfer to a UC or CSU first so that I am not holding a worthless degree from a school that is no longer accredited.

Before people start making assumptions, I don’t own a gun, nor do I intend to get one and become violent on campus.  I’m the kind of person that would much rather go after the accreditation and hurt your career.  Death is an easy way out, if I hate you I don’t want you to have it easy.  (I love my daughter too much to end my life or go to jail too :D )

18 Feb 2010 Argueing with the School Dean over the role campus security plays
 |  Category: College  |  Tags: , , , ,  | Leave a Comment

Lately it seems I am the guy who likes to stir things up over nothing.  Especially at school.  I blame the Army.  They taught me to love and respect rules then I come back to civilian life and everyone acts like “rules are meant to be broken”.

As an ex-smoker one of my biggest quandaries is the no smoking policy.  Its not that its unhealthy, or anything like that.  Its that it makes me want one!  Its been about a year now since I have had a cigarette, and more than two since I quit.  I slipped once but it was at 3am at the police station after being mugged, they didn’t have anything strong to drink.

Today I was sitting in the computer lab working on a project and a group of kids were using the handicapped ramp outside the room to skateboard on.  After an hour or so it just got annoying.  My project is due tomorrow and I’m having trouble thinking as it is.  Rules prohibit the use of skateboarding so its an easy solution to get some peace and quiet while I study.  I call the campus police and no one answers, so I quickly poke my head out the door and snap a pic and mail it too the dean of student life.

Surprisingly I get a response back within minutes telling me he made the call and forward the pic on to the head of security.  10-15minutes later nice and quiet.  I’m happy and send a quick thank you to the dean explaining I read an article in the school paper on how he was suspending people for smoking so since I couldn’t reach security I contacted him.  Thinking they had about the same amount of authority.

He actually quoted back a long e-mail including the actual regulations and everything on skateboarding and smoking.  You can actually be arrested for skateboarding… didn’t know that!  However the law explaining where you can smoke did not include a punishment so the security has told him that they can not enforce this rule.  This is where I snapped!

Trying to contain my composure as much as possible I sent this reply back to him.

On the topic of the campus police not being able to do anything on regards of the smoking policy is crap.

Every single one of us, you and me included, have the right to inform someone that they are in a no smoking area.  This direction from a law enforcement officer (LEO), even the lowest level campus security professional can be intimidating.  How fast does your heart beat when you get pulled over on the highway, just to find out he is telling you that you’re driving with your blinker on.

Failure to follow orders given from a LEO is a violation in itself, failure to present identification is another violation.  If you can suspend people for smoking, can’t security give you a list of names?

Are you telling me that security can’t even say, “You’re wrong, stop smoking”?  And that doing this won’t be effective?  So what that they can’t give a citation for it, 99% of the time they won’t need too!  Then odds are that other 1% of the time, that person will be so unruly that they can cite them for something else!

Police, security, even the military (Army vet myself) are more effective as a deterrent in presence than in force.

If you announce tomorrow that there will be no security on campus all day, how many people do you think will park on the sidewalks?  People are smoking and skateboarding because security doesn’t want to open their mouth and remind people what the rules are.  They don’t have to enforce them, just stand tall.

“Speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far” -Theodore Roosevelt

So like I said, I’m stirring the hornets nest.  Over nothing more than anything too.  =)

I guess I like to have an opinion, but now that I have vented I can go back to my homework.  I have my first major project due tomorrow and now I am in my quiet little home.

UPDATE: I got a response back that said I’m right about anyone can say something, but security cannot “handle what is essentially an advisory administrative rule”.

I’m mad again.  He is avoiding the situation that he isn’t doing his job.
